Restoring Smiles. Rebuilding Confidence.

Meet Dr AJ Salman
BDS (Otago), DipPCD (RCSI), FICCDE
Director & Principal Dentist, NorthMed Dental
I’ve placed more than 1,000 dental implants and completed over 150 full-mouth reconstructions. These include full-mouth crown rehabilitation, All-on-4 and All-on-X fixed implant bridges, and implant-retained overdentures.
My clinical work also includes complex digitally guided implant cases involving significant jawbone loss.
Alongside treating patients, I’ve trained dentists in implant surgery on cadaver courses at Sydney Eye Hospital and Macquarie University Hospital. I also regularly lecture to New Zealand dental colleagues on digital dentistry.
However, not every patient needs All-on-4 or dental implants. Sometimes crowns, orthodontics or a combination of treatments may be more suitable.
My approach is to explain the available options, including their benefits, risks and limitations, so you can make an informed decision about your dental care.
When planning a smile, I consider more than the teeth. I also look at the lips, facial shape and symmetry, with the aim of creating a balanced, natural-looking appearance suited to each individual.

Outside the Clinic
I grew up on Auckland’s North Shore, attending Sherwood Primary, Northcross Intermediate and Long Bay College. After completing my dental studies in Dunedin, I returned home to Auckland.
Outside dentistry, I enjoy spending time with my wife and children, especially fishing, swimming and being out on the water.
